ABOUT CBAVC
Cambodian Buddhist Association for Vulnerable Children (CBAVC) is a Cambodian non-governmental, non-profit organization established by a group of Buddhist monks from Wat Polangka in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
The organization was founded in 2012 with the aim of improving access to education, building and construction of water wells, toilets, houses, cow and pig raising projects for families in need and health services for the most vulnerable children, women and disabled people in rural areas of Cambodia.
To do this local and international staff and volunteers bring their experience of areas such as agronomy, health, social policy, and education to help those affected to reintegrate into the local community and help themselves.
CBAVC, in partnership with the local authorities and other NGOs, will help respond to the needs of these families to help alleviate trauma and vulnerability which are daily threats to their livelihoods. To do this we are encouraging their full participation in efforts to conserve the environment and national heritage; reduce and eliminate domestic violence, child trafficking, poverty and illiteracy in line with the policies of the Royal Government. Our most important task is to increase the opportunity for children from this area to grow up well educated and most importantly with a strong moral mind so that they can build lasting peace and prosperity in our society.
Vision
CBAVC’s vision is for Cambodia to be a country with a strong and growing economy and whose people benefit from equality, unity and inter-dependence, as well as hold respect for human rights and democracy. In order to realize this, CBAVC commits to alleviating poverty in rural areas of Cambodia by improving quality of life through education and community development programs and community primary healthcare for Cambodian women, children and families. This will be achieved through coordination, cooperation and exchange with stakeholders at all levels including families, civil society groups, government departments, NGOs, and community leaders.
Mission
CBAVC's mission is to implement humanitarian projects through local authorities, government agencies and other NGOs to reduce illiteracy in areas of extreme poverty. Support vulnerable children and disabled people in the areas of CBAVC operation by ensuring equal rights to good quality practical and moral education as well as improving health and living conditions.
