San Van
Position: Founder and Executive Director
Van is the Founder & Executive Director of the Cambodian Buddhist Association for Vulnerable Children. Van was born in 1982 in Siem Reap province. He was the third child in the family. He became a pagoda boy at 16 years old and then he became a monk at the age of 17 years old at Wat Polngka Pagoda in Siem Reap with his dream to help people. He attended Buddhist secondary school and completed Buddhist high school in 2005. He graduated with a bachelor of art in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), a BA in Project Management in 2009 and an MBA in General Management from Build Bright University in 2012.
Since he graduated with a bachelor degree and master degree from the University, he worked very hard and tirelessly to officially establish and register the Cambodian Buddhist Association for Vulnerable Children in 2012. He has been responsible for the management and daily operations of CBAVC School in the vulnerable areas.
Van became a monk for 18 years and he disrobed in 2019. His family and friends are very blessed and love him. Now he is driving with his dream into a reality to help vulnerable children and disabled people in the area he grew up in which was the Chikreng district of Siem Reap province.
Cheak Kimsea
Position: Head of Education Program
Kimsea started working with CBAVC in 2012 to develop the CBAVC project and daily running of the school in the countryside. He is responsible for arranging reports and sending them to all of the offices that are involved with advocacy. He also cooperates with other NGOs and investigates problems that communities have, especially CBAVC children and the villagers. He completed high school and then he continued to take a bachelors degree at Pannasastra University of Cambodia (PUC).
Beang Sokkhim
Position: Assistant in Education Program
Sokkhim was born 1978. He started working with CBAVC as assistant in education program for teaching and handles 460 children and the villagers 2,284 people in Kanseang village. Now he has a bachelor degree in General Management from Cambodia University for Specialties (CUS) in the Siem Reap branch.
Khloeun Sochea
Position: Head of School Food Program
Sochea started working in 2012 with CBAVC and is in charge of the food supplies for all of the children in all of the schools. She manages the rice, cooking, and gathering of food so that there is enough to feed all of the children.
Pren Proeun
Position: Head of Community Development Program
Proeun is working with CBAVC and is in charge of the managing and preparing of the houses, toilet facilities, and water wells. These all provide sanitation and clean drinking water to the communities.
Nail Noun
Position: Head of Agriculture Development Project
Noun was born in 1981. He manages CBAVC's agricultural livestock program which provides pigs and cows for rural families in the community.
Sun Ratana
Position: Assistant and Translator
Ratana is very excited to be a Assistant & Translator of CBAVC in Cambodia. Ratana is a wonderful guy to chat with and will be able to answer many of your questions due to his experience as a tour guide and translator. Ratana is a professional tour guide and translator. He also has experience teaching the history of Cambodia which makes him a man of great knowledge and has worked for 15 years as a teacher and tutor of English, Japanese, and Korean. Ratana works for CBAVC as a translator for our volunteers while they are working in Cambodia. He is an amazing and fun tour guide.
